minister Razi Uddin Ahmed Raju
on Saturday formally
inaugurated the AKtel mobile
phone network of Kaptai
upazila in Rangamati hill
district by receiving a call
from state minister for CHT
affairs Dipankar Talukdar.
The minister received the call
at his Banani residence in the
morning and talked with
Dipankar Talukdar for several
minutes by using the AKtel
mobile phone network.
BTCL managing director
Khaberuzzaman and TeleTalk
managing director M Mujibur
Rahman were present.
Speaking on the occasion, the
telecommunications minister
said as per their election
manifesto, the present
government is working
tirelessly to develop the
telecommunication sector for
building a “Digital
Bangladesh’ by 2021.
He said they have already
introduced TeleTalk mobile
phone network in 20 upazilas
of the Chittagong Hill Tracts
for enhancing the life style
of the people in the region.
‘AKtel installed its mobile
network in Kaptai Upazila
today and it’s a milestone in
the country’s telecom
services,’ he added.
Mentioning the government’s
initiatives in the telecom
sector, Razi Uddin Raju said
the government gave free
land-phone connections to
subscribers in every upazila.
