Nokia, the world leader in
mobility, received the Best
Brand Award in the category
'Mobile Handset Brand' at the
Best Brand Award Bangladesh
2009 ceremony on December 17
at the Dhaka Sheraton Hotel.
The event was jointly
organized by Bangladesh Brand
Forum and Nielsen Bangladesh.
'It's a great honour to be
receiving this award on behalf
of Nokia.
Nokia will continue to provide
the best service possible in
the days to come,' said Prem
Chand, Managing Director,
Nokia EA Ltd, who received the
award from FBCCI President
Anisul Haque, on behalf of the
company. Mezbah Uddin,
National Sales Manager, Nokia
EA and Rahath Ahmed, Category
Marketing Manager were also
present on the occasion.
Shariful Islam, founder,
Bangladesh Brand Forum, and
CEO Brandzeal, delivered the
welcome address on the
occasion while Dr Khalid
Hasan, Managing Director of
Nielsen Bangladesh, and Dr
Ferhat Anwar, Chief Adviser of
Bangladesh Brand Forum and a
professor at IBA of Dhaka
University, also spoke.
The awards were the outcome of
Bangladesh Brand Forum's "Best
Brands of Bangladesh Study
(BBBS)" in partnership with
Nielsen Bangladesh. They
jointly conducted a nationwide
research to reveal the best
brands of Bangladesh.
The coverage of the study
included both urban and rural
areas across six divisions of
the country. The study
surveyed people of different
age, gender, education,
occupation and income.
In the overall 'Best Brand'
category, Nokia was followed
by Lux, Grameenphone, Sunsilk,
Dhaka University, Parachute,
Close-Up, Wheel, Sony and Ponds.
Other winners were Dhaka
University (Service Sector
Brand), Sonali Bank (Financial
Institution Brand),
Grameenphone (Telecom Service
Provider Brand), Sony
(Durables Brand), ACI Salt
(Food and Beverage Brand) and
Lux (FMCG Brand). There were a
total of 21 categories in the
award.
Best Brand Award is an
initiative towards recognising
the success of country's
business community and
Bangladesh Brand Forum (BBF)
is a pursuit to transform
Bangladesh through applying
the branding ethos among the
corporate world. As such,
Nokia has once again proved
its worth and is being given
recognition for its services.
